The Most Memorable Red Carpet Dresses
Gwyneth Paltrow, Premiere of Iron Man 3, 2013
A see-through trend, that is really popular among stars, and often highly criticized, can be actually very subtle when someone like Gwyneth decides to wear it. She chose this look for the 2013 premiere of 'Iron Man 3', a sheer-panelled Antonio Berardi gown that revealed just enough to be elegant and provocative. But as Paltrow's peek-a-boo gown couldn't be worn with underwear, one wrong leg cross would have caused a scandal.
Paris Hilton, Cannes Film Festival, 2015
All glitter and gold, Paris Hilton stole the show in 2015 Cannes Film Festival. Paris appeared on the red carpet before the premiere of the movie 'Inside Out' wearing a backless gown made of sheer fabric by Yousef Al-Jasmi. Of course, Paris had to break some rules in the process, so she made a selfie with actor Sun Zu Yang at this strictest "no selfie" event.
Kendall Jenner, Cannes Film Festival, 2017
Wearing Giambattista Valli Couture, a light airy silk chiffon with beautiful florals made a dreamy impression along with Chopard jewels, Kendall red carpet look was spot on. It was the evening of '120 Beats Per Minute' premiere, but it was Kendall's stunning look that raised the heartbeat of many fashion lovers.
Miley Cyrus, Ema Awards Amsterdam, 2013
Miley made her grand entrance during MTV EMA Awards ceremony in Amsterdam, with a dress that is a tribute to two fallen musicians Biggie Smalls and Tupac. The dress also contained a message that surrounded Miley's hips that said "Please Stop Violence." A statement or not, this dress was criticized for being kind of trashy and way more colourful than needed. Anyhow, Miley made quite a turbulence on the Red Carpet by wearing it.
Lady Gaga, MTV Video Music Awards, 2010
Designed by Franc Fernandez, styled by Nicola Formichetti, the famous "meat dress" was condemned by animal rights groups but also named by Time magazine as the top fashion statement of 2010. Gaga said that the dress was a statement about one's need to fight for what one believes in. This dress was archived but went on display in 2011 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, after it's been preserved by taxidermists as a type of jerky.
Lady Gaga, Grammy Awards, 2015
Lady Gaga is number one in leading fashion statements, but this time she went old school glamour with this beautiful metallic custom gown by stylist turned designer, Brandon Maxwell. She was accompanied by Tony Bennett, an 88-year-old at the time, so the dress was really spot on. Old school glamour for old-school charm.
Rita Ora, Vanity Fair Post Oscars Party, 2015
That evening Rita Ora wore not one, not two, but three gowns throughout the evening. After the official ceremony, she went to Post Oscars Vanity Fair party wearing her most eye-catching see-through asymmetric single-sleeved dress by Donna Karan Atelier which suited the quirky star.
Rihanna, Grammy Awards, 2011
Rihanna loves to show her body, but this 2011 Grammy Awards she made an impact wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier gown that leaves little to the imagination. Rihanna, who was a 5-time nominee that evening, went home with a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for "Only Girl (In the World)" song.
Laverne Cox, Grammy Awards, 2017
"Orange is the New Black" star, Laverne Cox, was a presenter at last year's Grammy Awards, and she did not hold back. Wearing a black leather, single-shoulder design by Bryan Hearns, the sides of the dress were held together with dozens of tiny little silver chains. Laverne definitely stood out on this red carpet.
Diane Kruger, Golden Globe Awards, 2005
Diane Kruger, German model and actress, took us by surprise by wearing this Marchesa design at the Golden Globe Awards in 2005. Diane said that she actually loved the dress, but it was just the wrong one for that occasion. She told one magazine: "You could see my belly button and everybody else was in long, flowy gowns."
Jennifer Lopez, Billboard Awards, 2017
Jennifer Lopez has mastered the naked look on the red carpet, so these Billboard Latin Music Awards were not the exception. That evening JLo showed up in not one, but two sexy naked dresses. Jenny from the block first appeared in black, long-sleeved Julien MacDonald gown that fitted her like a glove. That dress personifies who she is: confident, bold and glamorous.
Chanel Iman, Golden Globe Awards, 2017
After wearing this beautiful 'eggplant' gown on Golden Globe After Party, Chanel Iman was put on the very best-dressed list out there. Her beautiful look was complemented with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.
Ellen Pompeo, Emmy Awards, 2006
In 2006, "Grey's Anatomy" was nominated for 8 Emmy awards. On the red carpet, Ellen Pompeo wore purple John Galliano for Christian Dior creation. That evening, the popular show didn't take any trophies, but Ellen certainly won the hearts of the fashion lovers all around the Globe.
Heidi Klum, Emmy Awards, 2006
"Project Runway" was nominated for an Emmy that year for the Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. The author of the show, Heidi Klum, appeared in a gown matching the red carpet and proudly showing off her baby bump in this beautiful Michael Kors red gown.
Kyra Sedgwick, Emmy Awards, 2006
Kyra Sedgwick was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2006. She didn't win that night, but her dress certainly did. Wearing a Giorgio Armani gown, Kyra got really good critics for her choice of dress, after being put on the worst-dressed list the year before.
