Automatons the first computers in the world. Automatons, or Machine Dolls by Jaquet-Droz family were created between 1768 and 1774 as advertising in order to help his firm sell watches and mechanical birds. They are still working and considered to be the first computers in the world. Wherever they have been shown they have always produced a sensation. His astonishing mechanisms fascinated the world's most important people: the kings and emperors of Europe, Russia, China, India and Japan. Today automatons can be seen at the Museum of History and Art in Neuchatel (Switzerland).
